O WYDARZENIU
The Knowledge-Share Communities (#university&emmahub) is an exclusive, unconventional conference and workshop project organized by the UW Faculty of Journalism, Information and Book Studies and The European Media Management Association, an international organization associating scientists studying media management.
An Exceptional Experience
"The Knowledge-Share Communities (#university&emmahub)" is a unique event which debuts this year (November 16-17, 2023). It focuses on regionally important media events and compares countries' media management perspectives. But that's not all!
This format also serves the purpose of networking, socialising, and connecting researchers from every part of Europe. Thanks to its unconventional programme (a combination of round tables and workshops), it provides an excellent opportunity to initiate scientific collaborations or deepen the already existing ones. In other words, we want to compare our approaches and perspectives, develop new research ideas and initiate plans for future cooperation between researchers representing various parts of Europe.
The meeting is not intended to be a mass event. Instead, we meet in a narrower yet diverse group to share experiences, research and observations on how the media in our countries reacted to the war in Ukraine regarding media management.
The project is initiated by the University of Warsaw (Poland) – Faculty of Journalism, Information and Book Studies and The European Media Management Association. The first edition is supported by the honorary patronages of Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak (The Rector of the University of Warsaw) and Mr Rafał Trzaskowski (the president of Warsaw).
An International Gathering
“The Knowledge-Share Communities (#university&emmahub)” brings together researchers and experts from 20 countries, offering a rich international perspective on media management. Participants from Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Portugal, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden, Turkey, United Kingdom, and – of course! – Ukraine. This diversity promises to make “The Knowledge-Share Communities (#university&emmahub)” a melting pot of international collaboration and idea exchange.
Three round tables!
We offer three round tables. First, the media industry representatives will discuss how the media reacted to the war and what was the practical approach to this tragic event. Second, the Warsaw City Hall, volunteers’ coordinator, diversity researcher and Ukrainian foundation will discuss the refugee crisis and how the country responded to it. Third, the participants will present the effects of their workshops. The round tables are open to the public, both on-site and online, and streamed online.
Remote Participation – You Can Join Us!
Understanding that not everyone can be present on-site, “The Knowledge-Share Communities (#university&emmahub)” is committed to inclusivity. Remote participation is integral to the event, allowing individuals worldwide to engage in the round tables. To participate, click here: https://emmahub.wdib.uw. edu.pl/how-to-participate/
Exploring Workshops
One of the event's central pillars is its two-day workshop sessions. The workshops are designed for deep dives into specific topics, enabling participants to explore and compare the latest challenges, practical strategies and solutions in media management during times of war. We cover 1) Media Policies, CSR, and Grassroots Initiatives, 2) News Management, 3) Media Entertainment and Culture Offer, and 4) Media Education. The workshop sessions are on-site, closed to the external participants.
Contributions to JOMBS special issue
Participants at “The Knowledge-Share Communities (#university&emmahub)” have the exceptional opportunity to contribute papers to the Special Issue of prestigious Journal of Media Business Studies (JOMBS). They will also have a dedicated panel during the next emma conference in 2024 (Netherlands).
Discover Warsaw
Beyond the workshop sessions, “The Knowledge-Share Communities (#university&emmahub) offers a chance to explore the dynamic city of Warsaw. It's an opportunity to experience the unique blend of tradition and modernity that defines Warsaw”.
